Artist's Statement

Tan jian chung, ( born1976, Tainan, Tawain ), he received a double training in Chinese brush art and Western art, he began first with the painting of mountains and rivers, then of character. Thus he assimilated the style and technique of painters in Taiwan, from whom he learned a strong capacity of form and style of brush and ink.
He released his technique of handling the brush and introduces exaggerated and unexpected forms in his works. Pictorically, it made him break with traditional styles of expression, in search of a more personal artistic language. He seeks to propose a new vision of the world.
The creative process consists of a combination with the figurative and the abstraction. By manipulating each stroke of the brush, whether thick or light, straight or sinuous, the painting of Tan jian chung allows one to imagine imaginary and serene worlds.
Technique must be at the service of thought. Seeking to push its limits, the practice is more and more interested in the expressive aspect of the line. His works tell his research from a perspective of the real to the imaginary.
